The Mission

Charizone helps donors, philanthropists, organisations, foundations and wealth managers to navigate over 177,000 UK charities to power more impactful giving. Through a combination of smart search capabilities, data analysis and in-depth reporting, Charizone helps its clients to build clear pictures of the charitable landscape; saving time, energy and resources across the board.

Basically, if Google and Bloomberg had a baby who was passionate about working in the philanthropic sector, this would be it.

The Story

As an early startup, Charizone is constantly evolving, growing and developing its ideas - and I’ve loved being part of its journey since 2021. Sarah G, CEO/Founder of Charizone, initially contacted me to design a report template. And boy, did things snowball from there.

The report design quickly turned into a full brand review, which then turned into a UX/UI project for a user-centred platform, which then turned into a strategic role streamlining and managing workflows and processes. I’m now the Chief Brand Officer of Charizone, supporting with every touchpoint across the business.

Defining the look-and-feel for Charizone was an interesting challenge to solve; we work with both sides of the giving landscape (donors and charities), so key to this work was understanding how to tread this line while still resonating with two very different audiences. By creating a very flexible, illustration-focused brand identity, we’re able to present ourselves as a friend to charities, while demonstrating our value to philanthropists. Our tone of voice is accessible and reliable, building strong foundations for thought leadership within the sector.

Over time, our suite of services has grown too - and we’re now a fully-fledged SAAS organisation, which our small-but-mighty team of three have brought to life ourselves; from UX mapping and wireframing, to data architecting, to design and build.

What started as a reporting tool has now turned into an ambitious mission; and this is just the beginning for Charizone. Now that we’ve officially launched our SAAS offering, our attention is turning to marketing and product development, and we’re excited to evolve our platform to create something that will truly shake up the entire philanthropic ecosystem.

The Takeaway

Working with growing organisations focused on making the world a better place is my jam - so if you’ve just launched a startup and need a creative lead to bring your vision to life or take your product to market, I’d love to hear more.
